Senior Care Advocacy Eugene-Springfield, Oregon

A Home To Fit You was founded by Ronit Cohen, a licensed physical therapist with 40+ years of geriatric experience, on a simple belief: every senior deserves a voice in decisions about their own life.

Aging adults face many losses in their lives; they lose people close to them as well as their physical and cognitive abilities. They lose their independence and the power to make decisions concerning their lives

A Home To Fit You: Our Philosophy

We Educate

We are passionate about educating families on the best ways to support a loved one through these losses and lead them through the journey of finding the best living solution.

Education with A Home to Fit You

Each of us has knowledge and expertise acquired over a lifetime. Whether you’re a teacher, banker, truck driver, or lawyer, you have specialized skills and knowledge that support your work.

However, being a caregiver for a parent or spouse, understanding age-related medical issues, and navigating the complexities of dementia or Parkinson’s disease requires specific knowledge and experience that many may not have.

As educators, our role is to provide you with the information you need to support your loved one effectively.

Common topics we address include:

  • Dementia 101: Understanding dementia, its behaviors, and progression
  • Parkinson’s 101: Understanding the disease, its progression, and challenges
  • The Trauma of Moving from Home
  • Self-Care as a Caregiver
  • Managing Challenging Family Dynamics

We Advocate

We are committed to advocating for the seniors to have a voice that will be heard. Through our in-person hands-on assessment with our clients, we identify their care needs and listen to their personal wishes.

We advocate for all without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identification.

Advocacy In Action

We trust that you have your loved one’s best interests at heart. However, experience has shown us that, despite the best intentions, seniors’ voices can sometimes go unheard, leaving them feeling unseen. This can happen for various reasons, whether it’s to avoid causing distress, due to longstanding family dynamics, or as a result of challenges in self-expression caused by dementia.

We understand the complexity of these situations. As neutral, supportive advisors, we bring an objective perspective, allowing seniors to express their wishes, fears, frustrations, or anxieties about upcoming changes without taking sides. Our goal is to ensure their voices are heard and respected in the decision-making process.

We Connect

We are dedicated to connecting aging adults with the best senior living communities that fit their care needs, personal preferences, and financial considerations.

As our client’s advocate, we stay connected with the client, the family, and the care community. We are available to continue, if needed, to educate the family and the care community on how to support our client through the transition and beyond.

Supporting Community Connections

Anyone can find a list of care communities online. But what you’ll have is simply… a list.

We have personal connections with all senior care communities throughout Eugene, Springfield, Junction City, Cottage Grove, and the greater Lane County area. We know their marketing and
executive directors, speak regularly with their caregivers, and stay aware of each community’s current state—whether thriving or facing challenges. We understand each community’s unique strengths and limitations. There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution, and our knowledge from frequent visits helps us connect clients to communities that truly meet their needs.

Additionally, our ongoing relationships allow us to continue advocating for your loved one, even after the move, to help resolve any concerns that may arise.
